How does it work?

Equipment Required

Students will need a latop or PC with a webcam and stable inetrnet, a mobile device with camera, and a backup recordings device in case of technical problems. For paper-based exams, pupils must print the exam paper, complete it in writing, and then scan and submit the answers at the end, so they will need access to a printer.

During the Exam

A remote invigilator will observe the student throughout the exam via the cameras and shared screen. Students can communicate with the invigilator via a live chat box or by speaking ito the microphone if assistance is needed. Students won't be able to see or hear the invigilator, and they will respond using the chat box.

Role of Parents/Guardians

A parent/guardian must be nearby and within earshot during the exam. Parents can help with setup and submsision, but must not be in the room once the exam begins. This ensures fairness while also allowing parents to respond quickly if their child needs support.

Recordings and Security

All examination sessions are recorded and monitored to ensure quality, security, and safeguarding. The invigilator can see and hear the student, but the student cannot see or hear the invigilator.

Which subjects and exam types are available?

Not every subject Pearson offers is currently available via remote invigilation, but the list continues to expand. Remote invigilation is being offered for a range of International GCSE and A-Level subjects, both onscreen and paper-based.
