Business Studies & Foreign Languages Development

Business Studies Development Programme

Business Programme Cambridge.png

Our business studies development programme covers years 7 to 13, helping pupils progress and build their understanding of business as they learn through secondary school and sixth form. Business in years 7 to 9 covers the key foundational topics across business, with some areas reflecting some of the key concepts from other subjects, such as commerce, accounting, and economics. While all IGCSE courses are designed to be started from scratch without previous knowledge, the business studies course in years 7 to 9 can help prepare students, providing a solid foundation for further learning.

After finishing the business studies course in year 8 or year 9, students then progress onto their IGCSE(s) of choice. IGCSE business, accounting, and economics are all 1-year intensive courses. This means they only take a year to study, and there is flexibility around the age at which students choose to study them. Commerce is a two-year IGCSE course, not intensive, and covers components from multiple subjects.

After IGCSE, students then move on to AS and A-level, where they have the same selection of subjects to select from, other than commerce, as this is not available as an international A-level currently. However, IGCSE commerce still prepares students for all three A-level subjects, opening up multiple routes for students to select from.

Students don't have to follow this exact programme, but these are our recommended progression routes to help pupils get the most out of their education and continue building on their previous knowledge. Below you can find some of the topics covered by our curriculum for each of the subjects. Please note that topics may vary per year group.

Foreign Languages Development Programme

Languages Programme Cambridge-2.png

Our foreign languages development programme helps pupils progress and build their understanding of their chosen language(s) as they learn through primary school, secondary school, and sixth form. We offer a wide selection of different languages to choose from. Our level 1 language classes are designed for students who are brand new to the language, providing lessons for complete beginners without the need for a foundation of past knowledge. We have primary and secondary school level 1 courses, helping pupils of all ages get started in their chosen language(s).

Level 2 is for students with a bit of background in the language already, providing a middle ground between the beginner class and the more advanced class. Students can jump straight to level 2 if they feel level 1 is too easy. Whereas level 3 is for those who are confident enough in their language skills with a foundation in their chosen language(s). Students can always start in level 2, but move up to level 3 if they feel confident enough.

The language levels in primary school and secondary school help provide a solid foundation for pupils' continued learning at an IGCSE level. However, all of our IGCSEs are designed to be studied without any prior language, but a foundation of prior knowledge can help students truly excel in their studies.

Students don't have to follow this exact programme, but these are our recommended progression routes to help pupils get the most out of their education and continue building on their previous knowledge.
