In the UK, students usually start at the age of 5 and enter the first year of school. Primary school is made up of 6 years. Students then follow on to secondary school, where they end with their GCSE exams. Each subject is assessed separately through a series of exams leading to GCSEs or international GCSEs.

Students can then choose to go on to college, where they choose 3 subjects (sometimes 4), which are also assessed separately and form the basis of entry to higher education and further study.

Colleges often also offer other qualifications, leading to students gaining employment and apprenticeships.

When can students enrol in our online school?

Students can enrol in our online school at any time, with flexible start dates available all year round. We do recommend starting in a new term or at the beginning of a new academic year in September to avoid being behind, but pupils can use on-demand lesson recordings to reflect on previous topics if they would prefer to start at another time. Before making the decision to enrol, you can request a free 7-day trial that provides the opportunity to get a first-hand experience with our online school and some of the classes we provide.
